چکیده

In the framework of Wigner function formalism we investigated strange and charm quark-pair production in the early stage of heavy ion collisions. According to our model the particle production is initiated by an external time-dependent color field, that simulates an overlap of two colliding ions and color charge separation. The calculations were performed in an SU(2)-color model with finite current quark masses. We obtained that the production efficiency of heavy quarks is determined by the large inverse effective pulse duration of the field. We demonstrated that for short field pulses (i.e. for ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions) the heavy quark-pair production is strongly deviates from commonly used Schwinger formula estimate, reading exponential suppression of the probability of heavy particle production P ∼ exp(−m2/E).

Strange and charm quark-pair production in strong non-Abelian field

We have investigated strange and charm quark-pair production in the early stage of heavy ion collisions. Our kinetic model is based on a Wigner function method for fermion-pair production in strong non-Abelian fields. To describe the overlap of two colliding heavy ions we have applied the time-dependent color field with a pulselike shape. The calculations have been performed in an SU(2)-color m...

Plasma production and thermalisation in a strong field

Aspects of the formation and equilibration of a quark-gluon plasma are explored using a quantum kinetic equation, which involves a non-Markovian, Abelian source term for quark and antiquark production and, for the collision term, a relaxation time approximation that defines a time-dependent quasi-equilibrium temperature and collective velocity. The strong Abelian field is determined via the sim...

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Heavy Quark Interactions and Quarkonium Binding

We consider heavy quark interactions in quenched and unquenched lattice QCD. In a region just above the deconfinement point, non-Abelian gluon polarization leads to a strong increase in the binding. Comparing quark-antiquark and quark-quark interaction, the dependence of the binding on the separation distance r is found to be the same for the colorless singlet QQ̄ and the colored anti-triplet QQ...

Effective Field Theory and Matching in Non-Relativistic Gauge Theories

The effective Lagrangian and power counting rules for non-relativistic gauge theories are derived via a systematic expansion in the large c limit. It is shown that the 1/c expansion leads to an effective field theory which incorporates a multipole expansion. Within this theory there is no need for heuristic arguments to determine the scalings of operators. After eliminating c from the lowest or...
